AKIRS Seeks Partnership With Local Government Revenue Committee On Personal Income Tax Collection

The Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service in its pursuit to capture more taxpayers as well as increase revenue collection in the informal sector in the state met with the Local Government Revenue Committee to synergize with them for ease of collection of revenue in their different Local Government areas. The meeting was held at the AKIRS office, State secretariat complex, Uyo, and had in attendance the Executive Chairman Mr. Okon Okon who was represented by the Head, Informal Sector Mrs. Idoreyin Williams.
In his address, The Executive Chairman expressed the intention of AKIRS to collect Personal Income Tax and other revenue accruable to the state government in the various Local Government Areas in the state and sought collaboration with the Local Government Revenue Committee for ease of revenue collection. He also outlined the benefits of paying tax as witnessed in the state through improved infrastructure, a good road network, and a safe and serene environment for business to strive
Reacting to the Executive Chairman’s speech, the Revenue Committee members thanked the Akwa Ibom Internal Revenue Service for carrying them along in the revenue generation exercise and promised to support the Government in its developmental strives by collaborating with AKIRSin the collection of Personal Income Tax in their various Local Government Areas. They also appealed to the government to improve on the conditions of the market across the state and also offer loan/grants to help boost their businesses.
